Solar Impulse 2, the ground-breaking solar-powered aircraft, made its inaugural flight in the early hours of 2 June 2014, in Switzerland. As an official engineering partner of the Solar Impulse project, Altran is delighted to have been part of this historic event.
The plane lifted off from Payerne airfield in Switzerland at just after 03:35 GMT, returning two hours later. Test pilot Markus Scherdel climbed to just under 1,800m, conducting manoeuvres to prove the handling of the aircraft.
