Altran has unveiled an end-to-end offering that has been specifically designed to help organisations reap the benefits of machine-generated Big Data. The solution, known as VueForge™, was showcased for the very first time in the UK yesterday at the company’s 2014 UK Innovation Symposium, an annual invitation-only event that brings together senior UK engineering and technical directors from leading organisations across sectors to share best practice in innovation. The symposium was held at Whiteways Technical Centre, the home of Lotus F1 Team, of which Altran is a Technical Partner.
With the number of internet-connected physical devices expected to increase thirty-fold by 2020, VueForge™ enables businesses to efficiently exploit connectivity and embedded systems Big Data harvested from machines. This data is then transported to and stored in the Cloud, before it is securely analysed and ultimately converted into information to generate innovative services and pave the way for new business.
Industrial sectors such as automotive, healthcare, rail and energy are faced with a variety of data-related challenges, including cost optimisation, technological choices, and safety and security issues. VueForge™ is designed to help organisations harvest data at the lowest cost using the most appropriate architecture, ensuring this data is delivering maximum value.
The unveiling of VueForge™ comes one year after the global launch of Intelligent Systems / Altran, the firm’s dedicated solution bringing together seven core offerings that enable organisations across sectors to develop and integrate intelligent systems and technologies: Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Safety, Security, Electronics, Connectivity and Industrial Analytics. Altran delivered an interactive demonstration of VueForge™ at its UK Innovation Symposium, showing how mobile devices can easily access a synthetic Big Dataset stored on Microsoft’s Cloud and identify anomalies in the data.
“The Internet of Things is a sizeable opportunity that now concerns all industries, and the scope of connectivity is no longer limited to domestic and personal objects,” states Keith Williams, Group Vice-President of Intelligent Systems / Altran. "Altran’s VueForge™ offering has been designed to help clients across all sectors to reap the benefits of industrial, machine-driven Big Data and focus on defining future generations of services and products.”
Keith Williams adds, “The key to successfully exploiting the potential of machine-driven Big Data is to combine technology, usage and business models in an efficient manner. VueForge™ is a unique Internet of Machines offering that combines these vital elements in the complex domain of connectivity. It is underpinned by Altran’s expertise, as well as the technological accelerators developed in-house and a partner ecosystem.”
