Altran UK has announced the signing of the WISE Campaign’s Industry Led Ten Steps, an ambitious campaign created to ensure that women in science, technology, engineering and manufacturing have the same opportunities to progress in their career as their male counterparts.
Fewer than 10% of UK engineering professionals are female – the lowest proportion in Europe. WISE argues that encouraging more women into industry is a business imperative – a bigger, more diverse workforce is necessary for the UK to remain competitive.
Many of the UK’s largest industry players have signed the pledge, including BAE Systems, Jaguar Land Rover and Rolls-Royce.
Mike Simms, Chief Executive Officer at Altran UK, said: “Altran UK is delighted to join a host of major organisations in taking this progressive and vital step towards a more balanced UK engineering workforce. We applaud the work that WISE is doing to encourage these important improvements and we look forward to joining them in their efforts.”
Angela Cooper, Head of Human Resources at Altran UK, said: “We chose to sign this pledge at the Farnborough International Airshow, one of the most important events in our calendar, to demonstrate our serious commitment to equality and diversity in the workplace. Over the coming months we will be working with WISE to ensure that Altran UK is and will always be a welcoming and rewarding company for all employees.”
